An international jazz collective presents a new audio-visual show

Cross art collaboration between improvising musicians and visual artists brings experience from live performance to a new level.

The Collective Abroad performs music by seven young musicians from seven European countries. Through collaboration across genres and borders, The Collective Abroad attempts to inspire cross-cultural communication and cooperation. Collaboration with visual artists M. Pékárik and L. Paniuskyte expands one’s experience from music and extends the meanings of improvisation.

In July 2020, The Collective Abroad released their first live album L!VE at HUSET, which was recorded at Huset i Hasserisgade during Vinterjazz 2020. At this exciting concert, the band is going to present a new repertoire, as well as a few compositions from the album. RESONANCE No.2
RESONANCE is a series of audio-reactive visual installations adapted to real-time musical performances. The installation is an immediate synesthetic feedback for the musicians and the audience through light and visual projection in the space with the use of textiles. The audio-reactive light installation discovers how one can relate to sound pieces, in particular jazz, in a dynamic visual form. RESONANCE No.2 is a second cross-art collaboration with the band The Collective Abroad exploring symbiosis between music and visuals. In successfully developed installation RESONANCE No.1 made in July 2020, the realization of synesthesia was evident primarily through direct audio-reactive connection. Further developed RESONANCE No.2 rather aims to create generative images out of each individual musical piece. The installations are made by interdisciplinary artist Liucija Paniuskyte (LT) and new media artist Maros Pekarik (SK).
