...er en nyt koncertkoncept og en del af den massive vækst som finder sted i byens jazzmiljø for tiden.
Denne aften samles et hold af specielt inviterede musikere under ledelse af saxophonist Tadas Pasaravičius for at fejre åbningen af byens jazzscener, som selv ikke en verdensomspændende pandemi kan få ned med nakken!

Vest for Vesterbro is a new concert club  adding to the massive growth that the jazz city Aalborg is currently going through!

Aalborg's progressive jazz community is gathering this evening under the leadership of saxophonist Tadas Pasaravičius to celebrate the opening of the city's scenes and a small global pandemic is not enough to kill the jazz!

We are happy and proud to present Olga Amelchenko and Sebastian Böhlen joined by a local musician crew for a magical jazz journey.

Olga Amelchenko is a saxophone player and composer and is a key player in the vibrant Berlin jazz scene. Born in 1988 in Russia, she started singing choir at the age of 5 and playing piano and dombra two years later. Between 2004 and 2019, she has studied at a wide range of music colleges in Akaban, Novosibirsk, Cologne and Berlin - refining her skills within choir conducting, jazz and classical saxophone, and finally she has graduated with a masters' in Jazz Composition and Arrangement from the Jazz Institut in Berlin last year.

Now she lives between Paris and Berlin, touring Russia, Germany, France, Holland, Italy – and Denmark. Olga is involved in the European jazz scene as a leader with the Olga Amelchenko Quartet and HELICON, and as a side woman with different projects.

“Shaping Motions” is her first album as a leader, is released on Unit Records in 2018. She co-lead the “Planet 9” project album in 2017, and participated as a sidewoman on “Factotum” from Thijs de Klijn Quintet in 2018, “Timeprints” from Musina Ebobissé Quintet in 2019, and “Liquid Circle” from the Hans Anselm Big Band 2020.

 

Sebastian Böhlen has an active performing career throughout Europe, North America and Australia including concerts at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Berlin Philharmonic Hall and Montreux Jazz Festival. Among others he worked with Al Jarreau, Kurt Elling, Randy Brecker, David Liebman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Sanders and Ziv Ravitz. Böhlen can be heard on countless radio broadcasts as a bandleader, sideman and composer and has recorded over twenty CDs. In addition to that Sebastian received numerous awards in various competitions including the Socar Montreux Jazz Electric Guitar Competition, Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis, Best Composition Award at the Tremplin Jazz D'Avignon, ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award and Praetorius Musikpreis Niedersachsen. Furthermore he got scholarships from the German Exchange Service, Manhattan School of Music, Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony. He studied Jazz Guitar at Manhattan School of Music and Mannheim University of Music and Composition at the Cologne University of Music.
