Wong Lok-ting: huqin/erhu & Jason Lau: guzheng: kinesisk koncert
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts og Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The concert will consist of traditional, arranged and new music for guzheng (plucked zither) and erhu (two-stringed bowed spike fiddle). They will play duets and also solo pieces.
Guzheng and Erhu have a little bit of duo tradition, but the music we choose are not one of those. Of the duets we choose, 4 are new compositions or new arrangements. Only 1 (Buddhist temple bells) could be regarded as a type of traditional ensemble music. We will play this piece with yehu (a variation of bowed fiddle used in Cantonese music) as the lead instrument.
