AFION

Afion (Macedonian: opium, poppy) is a band inspired by traditional music from Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia and Macedonia which they fashion in their own and original interpretations and compositions. At more than five hundred concerts in Croatia and around Europe, playing in the clubs as well as on big festival stages (Bingsjö, Shetland Islands Folk Festival, INmusic Festival, Adriatico Mediterraneo, Ohrid Balkan Square festival, Ex-Yu Rocks...) they gained a cult status and large number of followers. Their live performances are probably best described in few words as the "acoustic sound with the energy of the rock & roll band" (J. Bousfield, Rough Guide to Croatia) which makes the audience dance, laugh and cry. Afion's both studio albums (Afion, 2006 and Čudni svati, 2008) are nominated for the Croatian Music Award Porin.

The members of Afion are being engaged in various music projects, collaborating with many other musicians and are involved in teaching as well as giving music workshops led by the idea that, to stay "alive", music should be shared. After hiatus of several years Afion is comming back more mature and hungry for new performances with new material. The first single "Urodile žute kruške" is a great announcement for the new album which we expect to be out before the end of this year.

Afion are:
Lidija Dokuzović - vocal
Aleksandar Jovevski - kaval
Josip Mazić - bas
Danijel Maoduš – guitar
Nenad Kovačić –percussion, vocal
