For this event Aalborg Art Ensemble invited Rikke Bogetoft to perform an improvised concert based on the graphic notations of Erik Lunde Michaelsen.

RIKKE IS A DANISH MIXED MEDIA PERFORMANCE ARTIST, CURATOR & RESEARCHER WORKING IN THE INTERDISCIPLINARY FIELD OF ART & TECHNOLOGY. HER PRACTICE CENTERS AROUND INTERMEDIAL PERFORMANCE STRUCTURES WHICH BLUR THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN BODY, CAMERA & PROJECTIONS TO CREATE COLLAGE STRUCTURED VISUALS & LAYERED SEMIOTICS. UTILIZING AN ART BASED RESEARCH APPROACH SHE EXPLORES THE INTERTWINING AND AFFORDANCES OF THESE HYBRID STRUCTURES. OFTEN WORKING AS AN EXTENSION OF THE CAMERA ITSELF, SHE PLAYS WITH THE SEMIOTICS OF FRONTSTAGE & BACKSTAGE IN DURATIONAL PERFORMANCE INSTALLATIONS. HER WORK OFTEN REVOLVES AROUND CARING FOR THE BODY AS AN ACT OF REBELLION AGAINS PATRIARCHAL VISIONS OF SIN, AND TAKES A CRITICAL STANCE AGAINST PRIVILEGE, WHITENESS, EXPECTED FEMINITY, COMPLACENCY, COMPLICITY & SUBMISSION, LARGELY INSPIRED BY HER OWN JOURNEY AS A QUEER NEURODIVERSE WOMAN.

Aalborg Art Ensemble is a new project curated by trumpet player and improviser Erik Lunde Michaelsen. It revolves around graphic notation and is an exploration of freedom and limitations within music notation.
The line-up is an amazing group of international instrumentalist, who is handpicked to convey the notations that will be presented.
Erik Lunde Michaelsen created the Impro Fauna concert series, that sparked the new wave of improvised music in Aalborg, and won the “concert experience of the year” at the Danish Music Awards.
